Go Seahawks!

Since there was a Seahawks game on TV today, the boys wanted to wear their new long sleeve Seahawks t-shirts to help support the team.

Go Seahawks!

1 Thing?

Dustin spoke in Cultivate this morning.  He spoke from Nehemiah 6.

He shared with us that Nehemiah had great hopes for his home land, but knew there was only so much he could do.  So, he chose to do the most important thing...rebuild the wall around the city.  No matter what came up, what wanted to distract Nehemiah or even kill him, he stayed on task.  He did not let anything keep him from doing the "1 Thing" God had called him to do.

Dustin then asked us what "1 Thing" does God want from us in 2016.  So often we challenged ourselves with all of these New Year Resolutions that never get achieved.  Instead, focus on the 1 thing God has been nudging you to do for some time.  Whether it be an addiction that needs to be stopped or something you need to work hard to achieve.  No matter what that 1 thing is, we need to go after it with all of our hearts & minds.  What is your 1 Thing?

Happy Birthday, Dustin!

Today is Dustin's 39th Birthday!

I decided instead of doing the typical birthday decorations in our house, I would do something different...something unique...something right up Dustin's alley.

I decorated our kitchen like a scene from one of the episodes of "The Office."

In "The Office," Dwight is in charge of decorating the conference room for one of the employee's birthdays.  He apparently is the worst decorator of all & makes the conference room look horrible.  He used black, silver, & brownish balloons that were barely even inflated.

He even made a birthday sign that says, "IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY" instead of "Happy Birthday."  He hung the sign by using exposed masking tape.  It is the worst birthday decor ever.  Dustin laughs so hard every single time he sees this episode that I had to recreate it for him.

I decorated after Dustin went to bed last night so he wouldn't see it.  The boys & I went down to the kitchen to wait for him once we woke him up.

As soon as he walked in, he knew exactly what it was & fell to the floor laughing.

I pulled off a funny one!  I'm so glad it worked out.  We then had a nice breakfast.  Dustin wanted coffee cake, eggs, bacon, & fruit.  Yummy!

After breakfast, it was time to open presents.  My parents sent Dustin a nice birthday card.  They gave him his birthday presents at Christmas.

Dustin then opened a beautiful card from his parents.  They sent him some money.

Dustin then opened homemade cards from our family.  Each one of us made him a card.

Our boys love making cards for us.  It's so special!

Dustin then opened presents from me & the boys.

Ethan was very much into helping his Dad open presents this year.

Ethan even wanted to wear his new shoes.  Haha!

Here are the presents we gave Dustin for his birthday.

We then had a nice lunch on the living room floor while watching football.  After lunch we then went to the kitchen for some yummy birthday cake.

And yes...I DID put 39 candles on his cake!!!

I've always wanted to do that.

The cake was delicious & everyone enjoyed it.

Especially these two boys.

That night, we went to Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse for dinner.

The dinner was entertaining & delicious.

We are so thankful God placed this wonderful man in our lives.  We wouldn't know what to do without him.  We love you, babe.  Happy Birthday, Dustin!
