Saturday Morning Cartoons!

This morning has been nice so far. We didn't have much to do today, so we decided to do the typical Saturday morning routine that most people get to enjoy...lounge around the house. Well, Josiah did that. Dustin & I got right to work around the house. Josiah asked to watch Saturday morning cartoons. So, I turned on "Bob the Builder" & left the room.

This is what I found when I came back a few minutes later.

He sat with Curious George, Buzz Lightyear & Woody for 30 minutes & NEVER MOVED AN INCH! This was too cute & I had to take a picture of it. I guess he really does love Saturday morning cartoons!

Josiah's 1st Full Day of Preschool!

Today was Josiah's 1st full day of Preschool. Last Thursday he went for about 2 hours & the parents had a brunch across the hall. Today is the day he stays the entire 3 hours without his parents. He was SOOOOOOO excited!!! So were we.

Teacher Nicky had toys out on the tables for the kids to play with before school began. He chose the table with animals. Josiah really likes animals.

No tears from either of us! YES!!! I never wanted to be one of those parents who babbles all the way out of the classroom. I saw that so much while I was teaching Kindergarten. Emotional parents cause emotional children. Josiah was one of the few happy & content children. His teacher commented that she can tell he trusts us immensely by his confidence & lack of fear. YEAH!!!!!

After school was over, Josiah couldn't stop talking about preschool. He was so excited & ready to go back again. We told him he had to wait for two more days.

To celebrate, we treated Josiah with lunch at McDonald's.

Go Wake!

As most of you know, I was born & raised in Wake Forest, N.C. My brother, Chris, received his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University. So, needless to say, I am a big fan. For Christmas, Chris gave Josiah a new WF football jersey.

College football season is in full swing again, so we broke out the jersey to see how it fit. I think he looks so cute in it.

Josiah loves it...as you can tell. Go Wake!

We're Going Through a Hat Phase!

Josiah is going through a hat phase right now. Granddaddy & Grandma bought him a pirate hat & sword recently & he just loves it. Then, we went to the circus & he got a clown hat. Well, every night after dinner my guys have Daddy/Son time together. As you probably guessed, Josiah wants them both wearing hats. It's become kind of funny, though. Josiah wants them both wearing these hats to the mailbox (which is a security neighborhood box 2 blocks away). The boys have been getting a lot of comments & stares lately, but especially tonight. Josiah wanted to be "bare chested boy," while wearing his hat & his new binoculars. I thought this was too funny not to snap a pic!

The Greatest Show on Earth!

Yes, that's right. We took Josiah to his very first circus tonight. He did such a great job at his first day of preschool, that we thought he might enjoy going to the circus to celebrate!

When we arrived, we knew we needed to get a bag of cotton candy. Josiah has heard about this puffy treat, but never tried it before. The cotton candy even came with a clown hat. He put it on & never took it off the entire night.

This year, the circus' theme is "Zing Zang Zoom!" This is the entire cast of the show!

We are anxiously awaiting the beginning.

While we were waiting, Josiah had his first taste of cotton candy. Mmmm!

The show began with the National Anthem. Josiah was so excited that an elephant had come out, that the anthem...mmm...how shall I say this...wasn't quite respected. Ha! He was screaming with joy!

Next, they introduced Alex Ramon, "The Zingmaster." He evidently is not only a ringmaster, but also an illusionist.

The clowns came out to celebrate the opening of the show!

So did the villain, Mr. Gravity & his crew of misfits.

Josiah was ready with his new pair of "Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus" binoculars. He's always wanted binoculars & they were selling them. They work well & were cheaper than buying a program...go figure!

Josiah used his binoculars to see the horses run & do their tricks.

This part of the circus was amazing. These people are just hanging by this silky fabric. They are SUPER strong. We were very impressed with all that they did.

Next, the guys couldn't take their eyes off of the elephants!

They were amazing! They could do all sorts of tricks.

If you look in the distance, one elephant stands on his face.

The next two things were superb for a little boy. First, "cannons that shoot people out of them & they land on kooshy things."

Josiah in amazement of the people flying out of the cannons.

Then, he loved the man flying through the ring of fire. Too cool!

Then, the excitement hit an all new level when the tigers came out.

Ok...this guy was CRAZY! These tigers were NOT in a good mood. We were nervous for him.

The last act was by far my favorite. These guys are crazy, too. They would run, jump, jump rope & flip on these rings as they are spinning in the air. CRAZINESS & super talent!

Look at these guys jump! I was impressed. It was the most intense & entertaining part of the show for me.

Then, the finale came & all of the cast came out to wish us goodbye. Josiah kept waving to them & saying, "Bye! See you next time! Bye!"

We had a FABULOUS time at "The Greatest Show on Earth!"

Josiah's 1st Day of Preschool!

Today was Josiah's very 1st day of preschool! We have been anticipating this day for a while now.

Josiah was so excited & ready to go this morning. He could barely stand still long enough to have his picture taken.

I had his backpack packed & hanging in the kitchen this morning. When it was time to go he grabbed his backpack & said, "Let's go!" Having been a Kindergarten teacher, I know that not many kids handle this that well. He was ready!

Here are my two guys walking down the hallway together. They were holding hands until I snapped the picture. It's like right when he got in sight of his classroom, he wanted to be cool. I guess they start that young.

This is Teacher Julea. She is Nicky's assistant teacher. As you can see, Fireman Jo wasn't very interested in taking another picture.

Josiah began his day with Table Time. He first chose the block table.

Then he chose to color a "doggie."

While the kids were in class getting to know one another, the preschool treated the parents with brunch. That way the parents were close by if needed by their child. The director also took this opportunity to go through the Parent Handbook with us. It was a nice time of getting to know the school & other parents.

After our brunch was over, they welcomed the parents back into the classroom for some question/answer time with Teacher Nicky. We were all so pleased with the program, that there weren't too many questions. So, she took us all outside for some playtime.

After preschool was over, we surprised Josiah with a present. We told him that this present was for being such a big boy at his first day of preschool.

"CIRCUS TICKETS?!?!?! I can't believe my eyes!" (That is Josiah's new favorite saying). He was so surprised to know that he gets to go to the circus for the first time tonight.

Opening night of the circus is tonight...on Josiah's 1st day of preschool. That couldn't have worked out any better! YEAH!! He is so excited about it.
