My Little Lunch Date!

Look who I had lunch with today!!

I surprised Josiah by coming to school today to have lunch with him.  He was so excited!  He had no idea!  I even brought McDonalds & bought him a Fudgesicle.  Spoiled!  I felt he may need attention after this week with Ethan, plus Mommy needed time with her little man!  I had a wonderful time with my little lunch date!

Way to Go, Josiah!

Tonight was Ranger Kid's Council of Achievement at Park West Church!

Once again, Josiah has worked so hard to earn badges this semester.

They called Josiah up front to present to him 14 certificates & 7 badges.

He was so proud of himself & of his hard work!!  Way to go, Josiah!

Special Delivery!

Tonight Ethan got a special delivery from Children's Pastors Randy & Amy Jo & from the Park West Church family.  How thoughtful!

Ethan opened the bag to reveal what might be the softest teddy bear I've ever seen.  Ethan loved it.  It was almost his size.

He also loved the bag & tissue paper as well.  They got some good play time, too.
Thanks so much for this special delivery!

Update on Ethan!

Ethan did great in the night.  In fact, he woke up ready to play a couple of times.  This morning we heard Ethan sing for the first time ever.  It was such a sweet sound.  He did had a rough couple of hours during the day today, but once we got his pain medication in his system, he felt much better.

When Josiah got home, he couldn't wait to have cuddle time with his brother.  Ethan quite enjoyed his time as well.  I am so thrilled to give a wonderful update on Ethan!

Ethan Had Surgery Today!

Today was the BIG DAY & we were ready to "Do This!"

Today was the day Ethan has surgery.  He is had tubes put in his ears & had his adenoid removed.  The tubes are a fairly basic surgery, but the adenoidectomy can be painful.  God was with us from the start of the day, because Ethan hasn't been feeling well lately, but woke up a happy baby this morning!

Upon arriving, they gave Ethan a hospital gown.  OK...how cute is he?!?!  My goodness he's precious!  The gown even had Koala Bears all over it (my favorite animal).

We arrived at 7:30am & Ethan hadn't eaten solid foods in 14 hours & hadn't had a bottle in almost 12 hours & yet he was such a happy baby all morning long.

He spent some time playing with his toys & playing with his Daddy!

One fun way to pass the time was to play, "Where's Daddy?"

While he was playing with his toys, the nurse came in & said it was time to go upstairs & see Dr. Ray.  We were all super excited about that!

Dr. Ray is Ethan's Pediatric ENT Specialist & he is FANTASTIC!  Sorry to other doctors, but he is the best doctor we've ever had!!  He is so knowledgeable, yet so easy going.  We are so thankful for him.  He gave this Mama complete confidence about this.

Then it was time to lay our baby down on the bed to go to the operating room.  By this point, he'd been up for over three hours & was already exhausted.  We stood in the hallway & watched as they wheeled this sweet little angel into the operating room.

After the surgery was over, Dr. Ray came out & told us how the surgery had been a great success.  He said the tubes were easy & Ethan did in fact have another ear infection.  This would make his 10th since April.  He also had quite a bit of fluid in his ears & now he could finally hear clearly.  He did say that the adenoid was, "Quite Large...It was HUGE" obstructing 80% of his nasal passage & still growing.  He said that HAD to come out.  Babies are not meant to breathe through their mouths, he said they don't know how to.  Poor Ethan had no choice.  He could barely breathe through his nose & had begun snoring while he slept & even when he was awake.

After Ethan went through 45 minutes of recovery upstairs, they brought him down to us.  He was crying when they brought him into the room, but quickly calmed down when Mama got him.  They had been trying to feed him to get him well hydrated, but he wouldn't drink much for them.  Ha!  He drank about 6 ounces in the first few minutes I had him.  He then fell fast asleep for over an hour.  Sweet baby!

They told us that when the anesthesia wore off, he would be angry & possibly even hateful.  He woke up incredibly upset, but soon calmed down & was soon smiling.  He then drank another 12 ounces for me & never got sick.

After he was adjusted to these new feelings, Daddy wanted to get in on the loving!

After 6.5 hours at the hospital, it was time to go home!  Ethan talked & played all the way there.  We were so surprised at how much he was talking.  He felt better!

When we got home we just had some cuddle time watching one of Ethan's baby videos.  As we watched I could see him jump at sounds he'd never jumped at before.  He could finally hear things clearly.  While we were watching, Dustin went to pick up Josiah from school.  Ethan gave him the biggest smile he'd shown all day.

Josiah couldn't wait to give Ethan kisses.  Ethan just kept rubbing Josiah's face.

At the end of the night, Ethan was sitting up alone on the floor playing with his toys.  You could tell he already felt better.  He even said, "Uh-huh" for Yes & "Ut-uh" for No.  He's never done that before.  We are so excited to see what new things are in store for Ethan's life now that he is going to be feeling some relief from the pain & discomfort he's been in.  We are so happy Ethan had surgery today!

Bath Time with Bubba!

Well...it's the night before surgery & it's time for a BATH!

Any time Ethan gets a bath, Josiah wants to hop in, too!  These two love each other so much it's crazy!  Ethan loves baths, but not as much as he loves bath time with Bubba!

Today was Josiah's last day of soccer for the season!

His team did great this year!

Josiah is really improving in soccer & loves the sport.  He even made a few friends!

After his last game, they had a medal ceremony.  Josiah was so proud to be awarded his medal.  Now he has two medals in soccer!  Congrats, buddy!  We're proud of you!

After the medal ceremony, the kids got to play together & chomp down on some pizza!
What fun was had on Josiah's last day of soccer!
