Book Fair!

Today was the day Josiah's class visits the annual Book Fair at school.

I came to help Josiah spend some money.  He bought two "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books & looked at tons of other books as well.  We had a great time at the Book Fair!

Josiah's Last Soccer Game!

Tonight was Josiah's last soccer game of the season.

Here is Coach Joe giving his team, Holy Guacamole, one final pep talk before the game.

Josiah's team played great & it was a real nail-biter.  The teams were so evenly matched that neither team could score.  The other team scored one goal close to the end of the game winning 1 to 0.  The thing I've been the most proud of Josiah for this season is that he hasn't fussed at any of his teams' losses.  He said his goals were to have fun, get exercise & make new friends.  He did all three this season & we're so proud of him!  Congrats, Josiah, on completing your last soccer game!

Veteran's Day Program!

Happy Veteran's Day 2014!

Josiah's school does a Veteran's Day Program each year.  Dustin went to see the program today because I was home with Ethan, who was sick.

Here is Josiah as he spotted Dustin sitting in the crowd.

The kids all face the Veteran's as they sing their songs.

Josiah gave Dustin a thumbs up after his songs were over.  He had a great time at the program & so did Dustin.  Thanks to all our Veteran's for serving our country.

Josiah's 8th Soccer Game & Awards Party!

Today was Josiah's 8th & final Saturday soccer game.  He still has a make-up game on Tuesday night.  The team played great & won today 2 to 1!!!

After the game was over, his entire team went inside the church for a pizza party!

Coach Joe & Coach Chuck handed out awards.  Josiah got the "Power Kicker" award.  He loved that!  Our family has really enjoyed these soccer games & wish the season wasn't over.  Today was exciting, though, to have both Josiah's 8th soccer game & awards party!

Family Day!

Today is election day & Josiah is out of school.  So, we made a family day of it.  We spent time together this morning hanging out & playing around the house.

This afternoon, we all went to the movies to see, "Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!"  I always loved reading this book to my students!

We had a blast & of course, there was a dance party during the end credits (blurry kids in picture=dancing too fast for the camera to keep up).

After the movie was over, we went to eat dinner & our last stop was Toys R Us.  We took the boys to buy Christmas presents for one another.  They loved sneaking away from the other to find something special.  I loved it, too!  What a great family day!

Happy Halloween 2014!

Happy Halloween from our little ninjas!

These two enjoyed watching the TV Show, "American Ninja Warrior" so much that Josiah decided to be a ninja for Halloween.  Ethan of course said, "I be ninja, too!"

I love that they want to dress alike.  I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Every year, we meet up with our neighbors & spend the evening trick-or-treating together.  It's so nice to spend time getting to know others in your neighborhood.  For our family, that's what this night is all about...Community!

These kids are so fun together.  I think they had a blast!

We didn't do too shabby in the candy department, either.  After we finished trick-or-treating, it was time to come home & make our Jack-O-Lantern Pizza!

As usual, we ate pizza, salad & fruit while watching "Clifford's Halloween!"
What a fun night of family & friends!  Happy Halloween 2014!

Character Book Report Day!

Josiah has been working on his very first book report, which was due today.  Josiah was to read a chapter book of his choice & then to take an AR test on that book.  He must receive an 80% or higher on that AR test to use that book for his report.  His teacher gave them the body parts of a scarecrow & a piece of yellow poster board.  They were to fill each body part with descriptions of the book (title, author, genre, rating, plot, character names & traits, problem/solutions, setting & time).  On the due date, they were to come to school dressed as the main character from their book & present their scarecrow to the class by reading each part.

Today was the day!  Josiah chose "Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Hunt for Grievous" as his book.  He tested on this book a couple of weeks ago & was given permission to complete his scarecrow.  He worked diligently on this at home each afternoon.  He colored each part & wrote the descriptions himself.  We pasted his scarecrow to the poster board & he was done.  He dressed up as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Clone Wars.  He was so excited to go to school all dressed up on Halloween as one of his favorite characters.

He presented his book report in class today & ended with "This book takes place in space & it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away."  He said his class erupted in laughter because that was such a cool way to end his presentation.  Josiah got a 100% on his report!  In the comments section of his grading sheet, the teacher said, "Great Presentation!"  Congratulations, Josiah!  We are so glad you did great on Character Book Report Day!

Fall Festival 2014!

Tonight was our church's annual Fall Festival.

Superman & Super Mickey!

Last year, their costumes got torn up, so they came in their superhero play clothes this year!

They had a blast on the big bouncy houses &

on the smaller bouncy houses!

This was Ethan's first year actually wanting to play & he was not afraid at all!

They loved the cotton candy break.  Yum! Yum!

This year, they had a petting zoo.

I think Ethan would have brought these animals home if we had let him.
Look at him hugging that goat.  It was so sweet!

Both boys rode on a pony for their very first time!

They enjoyed it very much!

We had a great time playing, eating & hanging out with our church family & community at the Fall Festival 2014!
